Dear Korea,
Today I finally spent time in the city where I was born without the weight of a birth family search. Without the pressure of accomplishment within a limited timeframe. I watched local fisherman arrive by boat with their catch. I saw architecture still preserved from the Japanese occupation. Gunsan was a valuable port in the late 19th century for rice during that time. I stood in line at the oldest bakery in Korea famous for 단팥빵. And I even ate at the grilled fish restaurant which used to be a hospital. In fact, the hospital where I was born. Today I can say that I really explored my roots.
