Howdy, I’m Jenn Harbin.
Love Letters to Korea originally started as part of sharing my journey as a Korean adoptee rediscovering my identity while living in Seoul. Approximately 200,000 Korean children have been adopted out of Korea since the 1950s. I was adopted at six months old and lived in the U.S. my entire life but recently moved abroad in hopes to get a glimpse of what my life could have been and better understand my identity learning what it means to be Korean. I would encourage other Korean adoptees to consider the immense amount of healing that comes from this experience. While living in Seoul, I rediscovered my love for writing and now that I’ve returned to the states my focus is to continue the conversation around international and transracial adoption as I feel it’s important to make progress in the future for both. I am forever grateful to have the opportunity of going to South Korea and want to thank every individual who has been a part of my journey for their love and support.
